Warm-up 1: Harmonic Minor Runs

Ok, a lot of times, you're playing in a damp, cold bar, and your fingers are instantly telling you they're gonna play slow tonight. We've all been there. What you need to do is make sure your fingers are able to move as they normally do when you rehearse at home or with your band.

Here's one of the best warm-up exercise that you can do anywhere, with the sound on or off, and it will help you to keep your fingers loose and warm before you play.

Starting on the A string and using strict alternate picking (down, up, down, up), repeat each section one time, and move to the next line as you continue.  This is basically the same pattern, played one position higher each time you clear a line.

This isn't limited to just this section of the neck. Do this everywhere, and keep moving it up the neck and down the neck, increasing in speed as you go.  Try this starting on different strings as well for variation.  When you can do this quickly and without thinking, you'll really begin to feel your fingers warming up.
